Economic data changes after publication. Revision Lab compares the earliest stored ALFRED vintage with the latest stored vintage for each observation period. Earliest stored does not establish original-release coverage.
The historical seed runs automatically through the two-hour ingestion job. Once a series is seeded, later runs only request recent ALFRED revision activity.
Pick a historical date and use only the data vintages that were actually available by that point in time.
Payrolls, GDP, seasonal-adjusted inflation series, housing, and other macro data can be revised as source data improves. Backtests that use today's revised history can accidentally give an investor information that was not actually available at the time.
Each displayed growth rate or change is reconstructed from values available at that vintage date, including revisions to its comparison period. We show the earliest stored vintage and up to 19 recent vintages; the earliest stored value may not be the original release. Missing required values remain unavailable. Current dashboard values remain separate from historical as-of views.
